Partnerships & Initiatives
As part of Venture Minerals’ ongoing commitment to local communities and corporate social responsibility, we are proud to have a range of partnership arrangements with a variety of organisations.
Our partnerships include community driven programs that promote positive environmental outcomes.
Since 2009, Venture Minerals has been a vocal supporter of the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program. Our support has included the funding of a scholarship for Honours students at the University of Tasmania, and the continuing investigation of Tasmanian Devil denning behaviour. We have also helped to fund a new captive breeding program, which has involved the building of a specialised facility near Cradle Mountain in North-West Tasmania, as part of ongoing efforts to combat the Devil Facial Tumour Disease.
All Tasmanian employees of Venture Minerals have become volunteer Devil Facial Tumour Disease monitors, as an individual commitment to sustainable work practices. As part of this process, Venture Minerals recently took possession of an electronic chip scanner, which enables employees to assist in ongoing independent monitoring programs.
Venture Minerals employees are also actively involved in broader efforts on the West Coast to remove waste and road kill from verges in an attempt to lessen the incidence of Tasmanian Devil fatalities from motor vehicles.
Venture Minerals is a proud major sponsor of the Burnie Dockers, with an emphasis on junior football development.
Through our sponsorship agreement with Tasdance, the Tasmanian dance company was able to visit every primary school on the West Coast of Tasmania to conduct an introductory dance course.
Tullah Progress Association, Tasmania
Venture Minerals is an active member of this community association. Our partnership with the Association has enabled a refurbishment of the workshops for the local vintage steam locomotive – the Wee Georgie Wood – in addition to helping fund a much-needed overhaul of her aging boiler.
Venture Minerals is a keen supporter of this iconic multi-sport event that sees competitors run, kayak and mountain bike around the picturesque village of Tullah.
In addition to working cooperatively with other organisations to achieve common goals, Venture Minerals has a range of ongoing internal programs as part of our commitment to regional activities.
The Board, Management and staff at Venture Minerals have been proactive in engaging with the community and corporate stakeholders in progressing our projects and creating a ‘beyond compliant’ culture in its Tasmanian workforce.
Local sporting and social clubs
Although Venture Minerals staff are busy during the day, many are actively involved in local sporting or social activities. This includes a Venture Minerals team in the Rosebery Tennis Club roster and the formation of a local squash roster. In addition to this, Venture Minerals staff are actively involved in the Tullah Progress Association, Tullah Hall Committee and the local theatre group.
Venture Minerals’ Tasmanian operations have adopted a proactive approach to recycling. Where possible, we use recyclable materials – ranging from rags obtained from local charities (such as St Vincent de Paul), to refillable printer cartridges – in addition to recycling all our office paper waste.
